Hungary gave young couples money help if they said they would have children. Some got loans with no interest, tax cuts, and help to buy a bigger car or fix their home. At first, more babies were born. The birth rate rose from 1.25 in 2010 to 1.59 in 2020. But it fell again, and in 2025 it was 1.31. One couple in Hungary is now worried. They used a loan and hoped to have two children. If they do not have a child by 1 November, they may have to pay the money back with extra cost. Some people say money help is not enough. They say good schools, health care, and child care matter too.
