The Dutch government wants to spend less money and use more AI. It plans to cut 25,000 full-time jobs by 2035.

The Dutch government plans to cut 25,000 full-time jobs by 2035. That is about 16 percent of its workers. The government also wants to use more artificial intelligence, or AI, to help people do more work.

The government wants to cut costs by 900 million euros by 2027. Its goal for 2035 is 3.5 billion euros. The job cuts will not include the police or defense services.

Government leaders plan to set goals for using AI in the first three months of 2027. They also plan to explain how AI can help save money and get more work done.

Eric van der Burg is a senior government official. In a letter to parliament, he said the government wants to become smaller and work in simpler, smarter ways. Some parts of the government already use AI, and he wants to use it more widely.
