Meta and Chinese robot company Fourier built a test robot in about three months, The Information reported. Meta calls it Max. The robot looks like a person. It is about 1.5 meters tall and weighs about 106 pounds.
Max uses a small computer part called Nvidia’s Jetson Thor to run. A screen shows faces with different feelings. It also has speakers. Its hands have five fingers and can pick up small things.
The companies started work on Max 2 in September. They plan to give it a new middle body part and better hands. They also plan to add a device that shows pictures on a surface. More tools will help the robot notice things around it and use stairs.
Meta wants robots like Max to give its AI helper, Muse, a body. The company hopes these robots can do jobs around the home. Meta says its work with Fourier is for tests and learning inside the company. It has no plans to sell these robots and has not set a date to offer a robot product.
