Could AI Give Older Creative Workers a New Start?

Advertising often focuses on young people. But AI could help older creative workers use their skills in new ways.

Advertising companies often look for young workers and young customers. In 2025, the middle age of advertising workers was 39: half were older and half were younger. The middle age for all workers was 42. A World Advertising Research Center report puts spending on ads for older customers at only 5% to 10% of advertising budgets.

Brands focus on young customers from Generation Z. Advertising companies also look for workers from this group. They use newer places to reach people, such as TikTok.

But some older creative workers already use AI, or computer tools that can make things like ads. They include people who make games, take photos, and direct films. They have spent years creating stories, characters, and worlds. They understand light, movement, and how pictures fit together.

These workers know when something looks or feels wrong. AI can make ads, but it cannot copy real experience. Knowing how to use an AI tool is different from knowing what to make. For older creative workers, these tools could offer a new start.
