India Brings Its Farming Story to Paris

India showed new farming methods in Paris. Women farmers and food sales to Europe were important parts of its message.

India showed its food and farming products at SIAL Paris from October 17 to 21, 2026. More than 140 Indian businesses took part. These businesses sell products to other countries. Jawed Ashraf led the Indian group. He said small farmers are changing farming in India. They are using fewer chemicals and new tools. The United Nations named 2026 a year to recognize women farmers.

Priyanka Rhushikesh Mohite came to Paris from Maharashtra, India. A government program helped her learn to fly a drone, a small flying machine. She trained for one month and started flying in August 2024. Her drone spreads seeds and food for plants. She said watering an acre once needed a full day and about 200 liters of water. With her drone, it needs seven to eight minutes and 10 liters. Her work also brought her respect and a stronger voice in her community.

India and the European Union finished work on a trade agreement in January 2026. They expect to sign it by the end of the year. Such agreements can lower taxes on goods moving between countries. Ashraf said Indian food businesses must meet European rules and find buyers. He also wants their products to become better known in Europe.
