Viking welcomed seven new river ships at a naming event in Amsterdam. The travel company now has 109 ships. That is more than any other cruise company. However, its ships are smaller. Some other cruise companies carry more people each year.
Four of the new ships will travel on the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers in Europe. Two will travel on the Nile in Egypt. One will travel on the Seine in France. Only two of the seven ships were in Amsterdam for the event.
Viking continues to grow. In 2012, it had just 29 river ships and no ocean ships. Today, it has 94 river ships, 13 ocean ships, and two ships for trips to explore different places.
