Tesla and SpaceX May Become One Company

Tesla and SpaceX are talking about joining together. Elon Musk likes the idea, but there is no agreement yet.

Tesla and SpaceX are looking at becoming one company. Elon Musk shared the news on October 20 during a call about SpaceX's business results. People who own shares in the companies asked for the talks. Each company formed a special group of independent board members. These people help guide the companies. Musk leads both businesses. He cannot join the talks because he has interests in both companies.

Musk supports the idea. He said the companies could work together on AI computer programs, computer chip design, and robots. But the groups have not agreed on a deal. A deal may never happen. At Tesla, owners of more than half of all shares must support it. Tuesday's share prices put the two companies' total worth at about $3.5 trillion. That is not an agreed price for a deal.

During the call, SpaceX also shared its July–September results. It made a $4.4 billion profit. The money it received from sales rose 161% to about $14.6 billion. Its AI business brought in about $7.6 billion. This was more than its Starlink business, which provides internet through satellites. AI became SpaceX's biggest source of sales.
