Spotify says it stopped suggesting more than 50 million songs in 2026. It calls these songs low-quality AI content or spam. AI is computer technology that can make things such as music. Spam includes unwanted songs that people upload in large numbers. These songs are still on Spotify. This change is different from deleting songs. In September 2025, Spotify said it had deleted more than 75 million songs for breaking its rules.
Over the past six months, Spotify changed how it chooses songs for listeners. It now suggests more music from human artists. The company looked at songs people skipped or said they did not want. Spotify says people now complain less about unwanted songs in its suggestions.
Spotify checks listener feedback, song information and how people add music. It also uses computer tools to look for AI music. These tools do not always work well. Spotify puts a special mark on thousands of artists with AI identities. It usually does not suggest their music. More than 300,000 human artists also have a mark to show they are real people.
