Hyatt plans to open The StandardX Times Square in New York City. Workers are building its very tall tower in Midtown Manhattan, near Times Square and the city's theaters. The hotel will have 1,800 rooms, more than any other Hyatt hotel in the city. It plans to open in the second half of 2028.
The hotel will have a swimming pool on the roof. Visitors will also have a place to enjoy the view from more than 1,000 feet above the ground. Another attraction will be a ride that drops suddenly inside a closed space. The building will also have restaurants, bars, and places to go out at night.
The hotel will take ideas from New York's theater life for its rooms and shared spaces. These spaces will bring together design, music, and people. The building has the name The Torch.
The StandardX hotel brand started in 2023, and its first hotel opened later in Melbourne, Australia. It offers simpler rooms and a more relaxed style of service than The Standard. Hyatt plans this Times Square hotel as a special location. It will not use it as a plan for other StandardX hotels.
