Alaska Airlines Plans New Flights to Tokyo

Alaska Airlines plans to fly from Anchorage to Tokyo in May 2027. It also plans new summer flights to three US cities.

Alaska Airlines plans new flights from Anchorage to Tokyo's Narita Airport. This will be the company's first flight from the state of Alaska to Japan without a stop. The flights will start on May 13, 2027. The trip will cover 3,433 miles and take about eight hours.

The airline plans to fly to Tokyo every day through September 7, 2027. Flights will return in January 2028, with three trips each week. No airline currently flies between Anchorage and Narita without a stop.

Alaska Airlines will use a Boeing 737 MAX 8 for the Tokyo flights. This plane has just one path between its rows of seats. The first-class seats at the front lean back, like those on flights within the US. They are not the business-class seats found on the airline's larger planes for long trips.

The company also plans flights from Anchorage to Austin, Dallas–Fort Worth, and Nashville. These flights will run on Saturdays from June 12 through August 7, 2027. All three will also use the Boeing 737 MAX 8. American Airlines already flies between Anchorage and Dallas–Fort Worth, but Anchorage currently has no nonstop flights to Austin or Nashville.
