Medieval jousting returned to London in an unconventional form on Saturday, when armored participants charged at one another on electric bikes. Held at London Fields ahead of Halloween, the event attracted hundreds of spectators to a modern reinterpretation of the centuries-old sport.
In place of traditional horses, the costumed knights mounted battery-powered Lime bikes. Equipped with lances and dressed in elaborate outfits, they attempted to unseat their opponents as the crowd cheered and celebrated the winners.
The spectacle extended beyond the contests themselves, with participants making their entrances to rock music before confronting their rivals. Medieval-themed costumes and dancing also featured in the gathering, where spectators saluted Tommy Moore, the self-proclaimed king.
