Lions Women Set for First Match Against France

France will face the British and Irish Lions Women in Cardiff ahead of the team's first New Zealand tour.

The British and Irish Lions women's rugby team will play their first-ever match against France on August 27, 2027. The game will take place at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, giving supporters their first chance to watch the team at home. It comes before the Lions Women's first tour of New Zealand.

Head coach Jo Yapp says France will offer the challenge her players need before that trip. She praised the French team's strong defense and attacking play. Yapp also encouraged fans to support the squad and take part in an important moment for the team.

The New Zealand tour begins on September 4 with a match against a Black Ferns XV in Whangarei. The Lions then meet the Black Ferns in Auckland on September 11 for their first Test, an international match. Next comes a game against an Invitational XV in Hamilton on September 14. Two further Tests against the Black Ferns follow: one in Wellington on September 18 and the final match in Christchurch on September 25.
