Europe Plans for Its Future in Space

Europe wants more control over its satellite networks. Money and rules for radio signals are important parts of the plan.

European officials and satellite company Sateliot met in Brussels. They discussed money and control of communications from space. The EU’s current space plan is worth 14.8 billion euros. It ends in 2027. The next budget proposal includes 131 billion euros for defense and space.

Sateliot’s satellites connect devices in places without ground networks. Satellites need radio signals to send information. The European Commission wants one EU-wide permission system for some satellite services. It also wants to keep some radio space for European companies.

Sateliot plans a launch with Spanish rocket company PLD Space in late 2027. The company wants to grow its network to more than 500 satellites.
