Netflix is developing a live-action adaptation of PUBG, with Donald Glover taking on several central creative roles. KRAFTON, the company behind the globally popular battle royale game, announced the series in partnership with the streaming service. Glover will star, write, direct, and executive produce.
His brother and frequent collaborator, Stephen Glover, will serve as a writer and executive producer. The production team also includes Michael Schaefer of NEON TV, Fam Udeorji of Gilga, and Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee of LV3H, KRAFTON’s entertainment division. The project brings together participants from both television and the gaming industry.
PUBG places 100 players on an island, where they compete to survive until a single player or team remains. The game has reached millions of players worldwide and holds seven Guinness World Records. Through LV3H, KRAFTON aims to extend the franchise beyond games and into film and television.
Glover brings experience from Atlanta, the acclaimed series he created, which won seven Emmy awards and earned 26 nominations. His involvement in PUBG spans both performance and creative oversight, while Stephen contributes to the writing and executive production. Their collaboration continues an existing working relationship.
In a separate effort, Netflix is developing a live-action Assassin’s Creed series. It is also working on a feature-length adaptation of Gears of War. The PUBG project adds another major gaming franchise to the company’s slate of video game adaptations.
