Citroën Plans an Affordable Electric Return for the 2CV

A new electric 2CV concept combines classic design with a spacious interior. Citroën plans production by 2028 and is targeting a starting price of around €15,000.

Citroën presented a new electric concept car at the Paris auto show on October 12, 2026. Inspired by the classic 2CV, whose history dates back to 1948, the design combines a familiar appearance with modern electric technology. A concept car shows a company's ideas before a model enters production. This one has simple styling and a spacious interior.

The vehicle measures 3.76 meters in length, and Citroën is targeting a weight of about 1,000 kilograms. Engineers are working to make it both light and strong. Its compact size is intended to support efficient energy use, while the design promises easy movement through city streets. The company wants to preserve the original model's simplicity and affordability rather than simply repeat an old design.

Citroën intends to begin production within two years, aiming to add the model to its range by 2028. The car is expected to be built in Europe, with a starting price of around €15,000. Keeping production costs down is part of the company's plan to reach that price and make electric cars more accessible.
