Sony plans a film based on Mouthwashing

Sony is making a film from the horror game Mouthwashing. Karyn Kusama is attached to direct it, but it has no release date yet.

Sony Pictures Entertainment is making a film based on the horror game Mouthwashing. It bought the rights to make the film from Wrong Organ, the team behind the game. Karyn Kusama is attached to direct the film. She also directed Jennifer's Body and The Invitation.

Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay will write the film. They also wrote The Invitation. Scott Derrickson will help make the film as its producer. He directed The Black Phone and Sinister.

Mouthwashing tells the story of a group of people on a spaceship. Their ship cannot continue its journey, and they slowly stop understanding what is real. The game does not often try to scare players with sudden surprises. Instead, it has serious, difficult subjects and strange, dream-like images.

The film does not have a release date yet. The game first came out on PC in 2024. Players can now also get it on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It is also available through Xbox Game Pass.
