Victoria Madsen is 25. She works on ski lifts at Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah. These machines carry people up mountains. She started about five years ago. Before that, she studied English at university and wanted to be a lawyer.
Madsen knew nothing about fixing machines, but she learned at work. The job paid $3 more an hour than her old job. She left university. She already earned more than she expected to earn after her studies.
She got her own flat and bought a new car. She earns more than most of her friends and feels proud of her work. But she still worries about money. She does not know if she can ever buy a house or have children.
