Woman, 99, Becomes the World’s Oldest Wing-Walker

Helga Duffy flew on top of a small plane and became the world’s oldest wing-walker. Her niece realized Helga could try it, and care home staff encouraged her.

Helga Duffy is 99. She is now the world's oldest wing-walker. She was strapped tightly on top of a small plane during a flight in Gloucestershire, England. Betty Bromage, 97, set the last record three months earlier.

Duffy's niece saw news about Bromage. Workers at Duffy's care home also encouraged her to try. Duffy had a painful knee and worried about getting onto the plane. But she flew for over five minutes and felt very safe.

After the flight, a Guinness World Records official gave her a certificate showing her new record. Her care home now shows it to others. Her flight also raised over £1,600 ($2,000) for an air ambulance charity.
