Cameras in Spain show Iberian lynxes doing something new. These wild cats put dead rabbits in water before they eat them. Scientists watched several female cats do this over five years. The cats carried rabbits to animal drinking places. They put the rabbits under water again and again.
Scientists do not know why the cats do this. The water may help them get enough to drink in hot summers. It may also make the meat softer for their young.
Scientists found this during years of watching these cats. Iberian lynxes once came close to dying out. Their numbers have grown since then.
