Thousands of Drones Make a Blue Dragon in Texas

Two companies set world records with drone shows in Texas. The shows included a giant blue dragon, ocean scenes, and other pictures.

Sky Elements and Damoda put on a week of drone shows in Texas. Drones are small flying machines. The team flew 71,207 drones in total, a new world record. The old record was 55,939 flights, set by Aerial Illuminations and UVify earlier in 2026.

On September 28, 2026, the team used 10,183 drones to make a huge blue dragon. It set a record for the largest picture of a creature from old stories. The earlier record used 2,247 drones in the United Arab Emirates in late 2025. Other pictures showed ocean scenes, people in space, and a lion.

Each show used about 10,200 drones. The team flew them several times a day and controlled them from one place in the countryside. Damoda America helped Sky Elements with equipment. Damoda's engineers in Shenzhen provided special trays to hold and charge the drones. After each flight, the drones returned to their own trays by themselves. This made the machines easier to store and manage.

A storm on September 27 made the work difficult. Still, the shows continued as planned until the final night on September 30. Michael Empric checked the records for Guinness World Records. He said the weather and many daily flights made the work hard. He praised the team for finishing five successful shows.
