Samsung has added a better sleep check to its Galaxy Ring. The feature received FDA approval in July 2026. It checks for sleep apnea, a health problem involving breaks in breathing during sleep. It uses AI computer technology to count these breaks each hour.
To get results, users need to sleep for at least five hours on each of two nights. Both nights must fall within ten days. The Samsung Health Monitor app can then show a mild problem, breaks that happen sometimes, or frequent breaks. This may give people clues about why they feel tired after a full night's sleep.
Samsung first received approval for its sleep apnea check in February 2024. That check only looked for signs of a medium or serious problem. Samsung says only a doctor can tell someone for sure that they have sleep apnea. The results can help users discuss their sleep with a doctor.
The new feature also works on Galaxy Watch 9 with Wear OS 7.0 or later. Samsung plans to bring it to Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch 8 through software updates.
