Powderfinger, one of Australia's most popular rock bands, has announced a comeback tour that will take place 17 years after the group broke up. The Brisbane band confirmed its reunion last week. Its members said they were excited to perform together again after years of suggestions that they should return to touring.
The tour will begin next September with four nights in Brisbane. Another 14 shows will follow in Cairns, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, and Melbourne. Every concert will be held in a tent described as stadium-sized. Performances are scheduled only for Friday and Saturday nights, and no dates outside Australia have been announced. The band will be joined by both established and newer Australian music acts.
The members thanked longtime fans for their continued support and welcomed newer listeners who have never seen them live. They said a return had not previously felt right or worked for everyone. Fans often tell them that their songs are linked to happy memories, and the band hopes the tour will bring more joy and create new memories.
