American skier Lindsey Vonn says she may race again. But the chance is small. She is 41 and the oldest person on the U.S. ski team. Her name is on the team list for 2026–27. She must get better before she can return.
Vonn broke her leg in a crash at the February 2026 Winter Olympics. She also tore a strong band inside her knee earlier this year. She had eight operations and used a wheelchair for almost two months. She says this was her hardest injury.
Vonn was the first American woman to win Olympic gold in downhill skiing. She still loves ski racing. Her past injuries made her want to work harder and return stronger.
