Hotel Receives Questions About a Fake Cash Challenge

Social media videos promoted a nonexistent challenge at Ambiente Sedona, leading to inquiries from callers and a travel agent.

In early October, the luxury resort Ambiente Sedona received a call about a challenge that someone had seen on social media. According to the videos, people could win thousands or even millions of dollars by spending a month at the resort without leaving its grounds. However, a front desk worker explained that the offer was not real.

The questions continued after that first call. Property owner Jennifer May said four different people contacted the front desk about the challenge over one weekend. A luxury travel agent in South Korea also sent an email, saying that several American clients were interested in taking part. The inquiries concerned a challenge that the hotel was not actually offering.

May had previously spoken about videos made with artificial intelligence that showed her property inaccurately. She raised concerns again after finding another set of misleading videos attracting views on social media. This time, the videos drew attention to a supposed cash reward for a month-long stay.
