Brent Spiner Talks About Losing a Star Wars Job

Brent Spiner lost an early Star Wars radio job. He had trouble saying the name of a spaceship.

Brent Spiner played Data on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” Before that, he had a job on a Star Wars radio show. But he lost the job before people heard his work. He talked about this on “Dropping Names with Brent and Jonny.” Spiner hosts the show with fellow Star Trek actor Jonathan Frakes. Their guest, Terry Matalas, asked about jobs Spiner had lost.

Spiner said the story made him feel bad. His line told a captain that the Millennium Falcon had landed. But he had trouble saying “Millennium Falcon.” He tried to say it again during the chat and had the same problem. He could not remember his character or which Star Wars radio show he worked on. He did remember actors Mark Hamill and Brock Peters from the project.

Spiner later got another Star Wars job. In the 2010s, he spoke the lines for Gall Trayvis in the cartoon series “Star Wars Rebels.”
