Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC reported a record net profit of 763.1 billion New Taiwan dollars for July through September 2026, an increase of about 69% from a year earlier. Net profit is the money left after expenses. Revenue, or total sales, rose about 51% to 1.49 trillion New Taiwan dollars. This was the company's sixth consecutive quarter of record profit, exceeding the previous record of 706.6 billion New Taiwan dollars set in April through June.
Strong global demand for artificial intelligence hardware helped drive the results. TSMC, the world's largest company making chips for other businesses, produces chips used in Nvidia's AI data center processors. The company said customer demand still exceeds the amount it can produce, and it sees no sign that the AI growth trend is slowing.
Despite this strength, chairman and chief executive C.C. Wei said TSMC is planning carefully for 2027. Rising component prices and uncertainty about the economy are challenging consumer markets and price-sensitive market segments.
