AI company Fal raises $1.3 billion

Investors now value Fal at $16 billion, twice its value in April. The company plans to add more computers and workers.

Fal is a company in San Francisco. It runs artificial intelligence, or AI, programs for people who build software. These programs work with pictures, videos, and sound. Fal runs them after they finish learning from data.

Fal received $1.3 billion in new money from investors in October. Bessemer Venture Partners led the deal, and Nvidia and other investors also took part. The deal puts the company's value at $16 billion. That is twice its $8 billion value in April.

Fal announced this deal and an earlier deal together. The two deals brought in a total of $1.65 billion. Earlier this year, Fal made money at a pace of more than $800 million a year. This number describes its sales speed, not its total sales for a finished year.

Demand for Fal's services is growing fast. Its chief, Burkay Gur, said the company had to limit customers' use during the summer. Fal plans to use the new money for more computers to run its services. It also plans to add workers to its team of 185 people.
