Record pumpkin weighs more than 3,000 pounds

Ron Wallace’s 3,156-pound pumpkin broke a record set only a week earlier by British grower Ian Paton.

Ron Wallace, a grower from Rhode Island, set a new pumpkin world record on 10 October. His pumpkin weighed 3,156 pounds, making it the first to pass the 3,000-pound mark. It was also the largest fruit ever.

The previous record had lasted only a week. It belonged to British grower Ian Paton, whose pumpkin weighed nearly 2,857 pounds. Wallace’s pumpkin replaced Paton’s as the heaviest ever grown.
