Netflix named Peter Rice as its new leader for shows and films on Thursday. He will also lead its live events around the world. Rice led Disney’s television business before. He takes over from Bela Bajaria. She started in this job in January 2023. She is leaving Netflix after almost ten years there.
The news comes after another big change. A day earlier, Netflix announced plans to cut about 1,000 jobs. This is about 6% of its workers. Company leaders said the business was strong and growing. But Ted Sarandos, one of Netflix’s two bosses, wants it to grow faster. He also sees a chance to improve its shows and films, especially in the US and Canada.
