India presented its food and farming at SIAL Paris from 17 to 21 October 2026. More than 140 Indian businesses selling goods abroad joined its display. Jawed Ashraf leads the India Trade Promotion Organisation. He described changes led by small farmers. They use less farm chemicals and new tools to manage water and protect crops.
Priyanka Rhushikesh Mohite, from Nashik in India, travelled to the show. She flies a drone, a small flying machine. A government programme taught her this work during a month in Pune. She started flying in August 2024. Her drone spreads seeds and food for plants. She says watering an acre of land once took a day and about 200 litres of water. With her drone, it takes seven to eight minutes and 10 litres. Her work gives her more respect in her community. She also encourages other women.
India and the EU reached a trade agreement in January 2026. They expect to sign it by the end of the year. It aims to make trade easier. Ashraf says it could help farmers and small businesses. But Indian food businesses need to meet European rules, reach buyers and make their products stand out.
