Ron Vachris leads Costco, one of the world's largest companies. He became its boss in 2024. But his first job was very different. He drove a forklift to lift heavy things at Price Club. He worked there part-time and studied business at college in Arizona.
Vachris later helped manage a warehouse, a large building for goods. He did not finish college. Price Club joined Costco in 1993. Over about 40 years, he moved into bigger jobs.
His father gave him simple advice: choose a good company. Find one with ideas you believe in. Do not just try to get an important job title. Vachris followed this advice. He did not plan to become the company's boss.
