Medieval jousting returned to London on Saturday, but the riders used electric bikes rather than horses. The event took place at London Fields ahead of Halloween and attracted hundreds of spectators. Participants wore armour and elaborate costumes to dress as knights.
Jousting traditionally involves riders on horses charging towards one another with lances, or long poles. In this version, participants rode battery-powered Lime bikes and tried to knock their opponents off. The crowd cheered during the contests and celebrated the winners.
Before facing each other, the riders made their entrance to rock music. Alongside the contests, the event included dancing and costumes inspired by medieval times. The crowd also saluted Tommy Moore, who had declared himself king.
