Researchers found signs of ancient wooden objects at Abric Romaní in Spain. This place is a shelter under rock. They recorded almost 600 wooden objects or marks left by them. Human hands clearly shaped 13 of the objects. The tools show that ancient people called Neanderthals worked well with wood.
Wood usually breaks down quickly. But water covered this place from time to time. This water and the minerals in it helped keep the wooden objects from breaking down.
