Alaska Airlines plans a new flight from Anchorage to Tokyo's Narita Airport. This is the airline's first route from the state of Alaska to Japan without a stop. The trip covers 3,433 miles and takes about eight hours.
The airline plans flights every day from 13 May to 7 September 2027. Flights start again in January 2028. From then, the airline plans three flights a week.
Alaska also plans new flights from Anchorage to Austin, Dallas Fort Worth and Nashville. These flights run on Saturdays from 12 June to 7 August 2027. Together, the Tokyo service and these US flights make four new routes from Anchorage.
The airline plans to use Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes on all four routes. These planes have one path between the seats, not two like some larger planes. The seats at the front lean back and are the same type as Alaska's first-class seats on flights within the US. The Tokyo service does not offer the special business-class seats found on its larger planes for long trips.
