The world economy grows by about 3% a year. Kristalina Georgieva leads the International Monetary Fund, or IMF. She says spending on AI helps this growth, even with high energy prices. AI means computer tools that do tasks like people. Asian countries that make AI equipment, such as Thailand, gain the most. AI equipment and related products make up over a tenth of the goods countries trade. Big technology companies plan to spend $660 billion to $690 billion on AI this year.
The IMF says AI will eventually change four in ten jobs worldwide. It will help some workers. But other jobs will get worse or disappear. Young people face changes first. There are fewer simple jobs for them to start in.
