Smart computer programs, called AI, could do over half of US work hours by 2035. McKinsey says changes could remove work equal to 36 million jobs. But growth could create work for about 41 million people.
Workers may need new skills. AI could help managers and lawyers, not replace them. It could do about 80% of office support work hours. About 11 million Americans may need to move into different kinds of jobs.
About 85% of growing jobs need proof of learning or skills. Companies could focus more on skills and experience. McKinsey says they should check how workers do, not just money saved. Companies should also look at how people use the time AI saves.
