Samantha Rensvold was adopted as a baby and knew she had a biological sister, meaning they shared a birth mother. However, they had never met. On 1 August 2025, she was playing in a softball tournament in Montana when a teammate pointed out a player on the opposing team who looked just like her.
The player was Kyann Dean. Rensvold did not speak to her after the match, but she told her adoptive mother. They checked the team list, and her mother recognised Kyann as the name of Rensvold's sister. During a later match, the two mothers spoke. They confirmed that the girls had the same birth mother and were born at the same hospital. Both sisters were excited to meet.
Rensvold had already met their biological brother, who found her several years earlier. The sisters discovered that both had played school volleyball in the same position and worn the same number. They now attend colleges in different states but plan to spend time together. For Rensvold, meeting her sister has ended her uncertainty about someone she had long known existed.
