Spain has 17 main regions. Each has its own special foods. Many foods have a season. In Catalonia, families and friends cook sweet green onions over a fire in winter and spring. They eat them with their hands.
In summer, people in Andalusia enjoy cold tomato soup. It also has other vegetables, bread, and olive oil. In the fall, a food to try is sheep’s milk cheese from La Mancha.
Winter brings warm meals. In Madrid, cooks make a dish with chickpeas, a kind of bean, and meat. They serve it in three parts. First comes soup with noodles. Next come the beans and vegetables. The meat comes last.
