Thrive Holdings has agreed to buy ADT. ADT sells systems to keep homes safe in the US. Thrive will pay $10 in cash for each share, or small part of the company. Together, these shares cost about $7.6 billion.
The sale still needs permission from ADT’s owners and US officials. The companies expect to finish it in the first three months of 2027. ADT can look for better offers until 28 November. Some buyers may get ten more days.
Thrive Holdings owns more than 75 businesses. OpenAI has put money into Thrive and works with it. It gives Thrive’s businesses AI tools and engineers. ADT will become the main part of Thrive’s home security business.
Thrive says new technology could reduce false alarms. These alarms warn people when there is no real problem. The technology could also give people more useful warnings and find problems with equipment earlier. ADT’s rules for customer data will stay the same. It will not share new data without customers’ permission.
