Powderfinger plan comeback tour after 17-year break

The Brisbane rock band will begin its Australian tour next September, with every show taking place in a huge tent.

Powderfinger, one of Australia's best-loved rock bands, have announced a comeback tour that will take place 17 years after they split up. The group confirmed their reunion last week. They will begin with four nights in their home city of Brisbane next September, before travelling to other Australian cities.

Another 14 shows are planned in Cairns, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne. Every concert will take place in a tent large enough to be compared with a stadium. The band will perform only on Friday and Saturday nights. No concerts outside Australia have been announced so far.

The musicians said they were extremely happy to get together and perform again. Although people had suggested a return to touring many times over the years, the timing had never felt right for everyone until now. They thanked their long-term fans for continuing to support them. They also recognised the many newer fans who have never had the chance to see the group perform live.
