Daft Punk’s pyramid stage from the 2007 Alive tour is to become an official Lego set, developed from a fan-built model that won the company’s Music to Our Ears contest in 2020. Rather than simply reproducing the original submission, Lego’s designers are collaborating with its creator, Patrick Harboun, known online as RobotRock, to develop the final product.
The original design emerged from a father-and-son project in Luxembourg during the COVID lockdown. Comprising approximately 2,000 pieces, the illuminated pyramid contains a motor-driven, rotating box of transparent bricks. This mechanism recreates the visual effects of the duo’s touring stage, bringing movement and light to the model.
The forthcoming set is not the French duo’s first appearance in Lego form: they made a cameo performing Get Lucky in Piece By Piece, the 2024 Lego-animated film about Pharrell Williams. The partnership may also extend beyond this release. Lego’s marketing chief, Julia Goldin, characterised the announcement as the opening of a broader creative collaboration. Although neither a price nor a release date has been announced, Lego has indicated that further news will follow in 2027.
