Heidi Klum transforms her own hand into an elaborate Halloween costume

An oversized, blood-covered replica of Klum's left hand was the centrepiece of her 2026 Halloween appearance in New York, with personal details reproduced through body scans.

Heidi Klum attended her annual Halloween party in New York in 2026 encased in an enormous, blood-covered replica of her own left hand. Known for elaborate transformations, the model chose a design that reproduced personal details rather than depicting a generic hand.

According to Vogue, body scans were used in its creation, with her engagement ring, wedding ring and tattoo of her husband Tom Kaulitz's name incorporated into the costume. Special effects make-up artist Mike Marino, a collaborator on several of her earlier looks, helped realise the transformation. Klum said she had conceived the idea the previous year after looking at her hand and imagining how her body might fit inside an enlarged version.

Kaulitz was unable to attend because he had a concert in Germany. His previous appearances alongside Klum have included an egg accompanying her peacock and a fisherman paired with her giant worm. Klum herself has also dressed as E.T. and Fiona from the animated film Shrek.

Their daughter Leni appeared as Miss Piggy, complete with pig ears, oversized eyelashes and a purple feather boa. Actors Kyle MacLachlan and Neil Patrick Harris were among the guests, with Harris and his husband David Burtka dressed as an unsettling pair of twins.

On the preceding evening, Klum hosted a small gathering at her pizzeria in New York's Soho neighbourhood. She opted for an orange dress and black boots, leaving the giant hand aside for that occasion.
