Baden-Württemberg, a state in Germany, has recorded 358 child marriages since 2012. These marriages took place outside Germany. Courts ended eight marriages. Officials closed the other 350 cases in other ways. One girl from Iraq was 11 when she married a boy aged 17. A court ended their marriage in 2020.
Germany introduced a law against child marriage in 2017. It added new rules in 2024. When the state government answered questions about these cases, no cases were waiting for a court decision.
In 2025, a state-funded advice centre helped with 271 cases. In 80 cases, people faced the risk of marriage against their wishes. Of these 80 people, 33 were under 18.
