Frontier Airlines passengers paid about 71% more for basic tickets between July and September than a year earlier. These prices do not include extra services. The airline took in almost $1.4 billion during these three months, over 50% more than a year before. It also carried nearly 1.5 million more passengers.
However, Frontier still lost $104 million. Fuel for its planes cost a lot. Its planes were only slightly less full than a year earlier, despite the higher ticket prices.
Another low-cost airline, Spirit, stopped flying in May. Frontier now faces less competition. Frontier boss James Dempsey said three things each explained about a third of the rise in the money coming in: higher fuel costs, Spirit's closure and better ways to set prices.
Frontier also plans changes for passengers. It expects to start adding first-class seats very soon, with tickets likely available for flights by early spring. These seats can lean back. In a separate change, it plans to start adding Starlink internet to its planes in early 2027. Frontier does not currently offer internet during flights, and it has not said whether the new service will be free.
