Frelick's home run helps Milwaukee complete another comeback

A sixth-inning home run from Sal Frelick brought Milwaukee level in Game 2 of the World Series. The Brewers went on to beat the Rays 5–4.

The Milwaukee Brewers recovered from a four-run deficit to beat the Rays 5–4 in Game 2 of the World Series. It was their second comeback from four runs behind during these play-offs. Sal Frelick provided a crucial moment before Cooper Pratt delivered the final blow.

Facing Rays pitcher Ian Seymour in the sixth inning, Frelick received nine fastballs, pitches thrown at high speed. He hit the ninth over the boundary for a home run, bringing the score to 4–4. As the crowd celebrated at American Family Field, Frelick pointed towards the area where Milwaukee's relief pitchers were gathered.

The hit followed a difficult regular season in which Frelick managed only four home runs. A right shoulder injury kept him out for six weeks, and his playing time decreased after his return. Manager Pat Murphy praised Frelick's confidence, suggesting that being smaller than many other players had pushed him to prove himself.

Frelick described an almost blank feeling after the home run, but recognised that Milwaukee had only drawn level. The series now moves to Tropicana Field, where the Rays have won 59 games and lost 27 this season, including the play-offs. Milwaukee is seeking its first World Series title.
