France’s highest hotel opens again

A hotel high in the Pyrenees opens again after more than 30 years. Guests can enjoy mountain views and watch the stars.

France’s highest hotel opens again. The Hôtellerie des Laquets is in the Pyrenees, 2,620 metres above the sea. It was built in the 1930s. It stayed closed for more than 30 years. After work on the building, it opened again in late September.

The hotel has 16 rooms for two people. Every room has wide views of the mountains. Guests take a cable car from La Mongie to the top of Pic du Midi. Then they take a private cable car down to the hotel.

The hotel is in an area with little light at night. Guests can see the stars and the Milky Way. In December, the hotel will open an area with hot rooms for guests to relax in.
