Three filmmakers have resolved a nearly 200-year-old mystery concerning the precise location where the first humans captured in a photograph were standing. Their investigation took two years, combining archival research with the construction of three-dimensional models of 19th-century Paris.
Having established the location, the filmmakers’ discovery is now commemorated by a bronze plaque at the site. It celebrates both the historic setting and the early photograph, linking the image to the exact place where its human subjects stood.
