Anthropic assistant vacancy draws questions about AI

A reported London vacancy offered €145,000 for an assistant supporting senior business leaders. Social media users highlighted the contrast between the human role and Anthropic’s AI technology.

Artificial intelligence company Anthropic reportedly offered a salary of €145,000, described as roughly $190,000, for a personal assistant at its London office. The job involved supporting senior leaders responsible for bringing the company’s products and services to customers. The advert has since been removed from Anthropic’s website.

The assistant’s duties included arranging schedules, organising travel, managing an executive’s email inbox and communications, and submitting requests to repay work expenses. Other office tasks were also part of the role. Anthropic wanted a well-organised person who paid close attention to details and could begin tasks without waiting for instructions. The advert also stressed strong working relationships, recognising teams’ needs in advance, and completing work promptly without errors.

Social media users commented on the contrast between the vacancy and Anthropic’s work on AI agents: tools designed to handle tasks independently. In theory, an AI agent could carry out much of the assistant’s work. One user joked that someone should build a technology tool to do these tasks on its own.
