Robot Moves Like a Worm on Land and in Water

A robot called WorMa moves water inside its body. This helps it climb, swim, and get out of water.

Researchers at New York University made a robot called WorMa. It moves like a worm. It can cross rocks, climb hills and steps, and swim. It can also move into and out of water.

A small machine moves water between its head and tail. More water in the head helps the robot hold onto the ground. This helps it climb and pull itself out of water. More water in the tail helps it swim faster and use less energy. It moves water back and forth to climb steps.

The team is working on ways to move the water faster. They also want the robot to notice changes around it and move its weight without help.
