Doctors often use stitches to join parts of the body during operations. But small mistakes can cause leaks. SanaHeal has made a sticky material at MIT. It works like tape. It sticks to wet, uneven body parts in seconds. It stops air and water from passing through.
The material already has official approval to stop bleeding from injuries. Tests with people will start next year. These will test it to control bleeding during operations and repair injured body parts.
Hyunwoo Yuk started SanaHeal in 2021. The company works with larger medical companies to develop products. It hopes to give doctors another way to join body parts without stitches.
